I was thinking about what the stock market will do in 2010 and couldn't make any firm decisions. I thought I would post this discussion to see what other people think.

On the one hand, I see confidence returning and the stock market going higher. Most of the trends seem to be showing an improving economy after a dismal cirsis the past couple of years.

Then again, there are still a lot of people who are not able to pay their mortgages and the national debt really took off during the Bush years.

My inclination is that the market will continue to go higher as the economy starts to hum agian with positive growth. I hope I am right because I generally use automatic investment plans so I have new money going into stock investments each month.

What do you think the economy and stock market will do in 2010?

I have no idea what the market will do, but I can predict what I am going to do.

I am going to set up monthly automatic withdrawals into my investment accounts.

I keep reading how simple this makes everything and how it guarantees that the money will be invested instead of being spent on stupid things.

It is time for me to get this done. I feel it is so important that it is the only New Year's resolution I am setting for myself. I just need to do it and get it done.

I think that people who have been buying gold at its current high rate will soon realize they have been making a bad decision.

I think the stock market will continue to rise slowly with a few small valleys, but no real second major dip.

I think I will have better success making money this year which hopefully will allow me to invest more.
