Market Trends - Positive Or Negative?

Are the current market trends positive or negative?

I see and hear a lot of positive market trends. We have a market bounce off the lows or 6,500. We have consumer confidence rising. We have lots of government stimulus adding to the economy. We have pent up demand and a rising level of savings that could fuel a purchasing boom.

I also see and hear a lot of negative market trends. We have banks that are still carrying a lot of toxic assets. We have companies that are deep in debt and facing potential bankruptcy. We have a global economy that didn't see growth for the first time in decades. We have an economy built on fossil fuels when fossil fuels are getting harder to get.

I'm not sure where this market is trending. I hope it is going up, but I hear a good case for both sides.

What do you think?

I think you lay out the positive and negative market trends pretty well.

There is some confidence starting to perculate, but a few trillion dollars in bad debts is still a huge weight around the economy's neck.

The bad news recently hasn't made a big dent in the markets. I guess less bad news is better than terrible news.
