What are the best socially responsible investing funds?

Do you think SRI funds will do better now that the Obama Administration is in office?

I've always wanted to invest in socially responsible companies, yet I continue to invest in my same mutual fund each month with little knowledge of what I am investing in.

A few months ago, I finally took the time to look at what companies are in my mutual fund. I have often cursed the service of AT&T and now I find out that I am heavily investing in AT&T. I have often cursed the corrupt and polluting policies of the oil companies and now I realize I am heavily invested in the oil companies.

I feel dirty and ashamed to be invested in companies I don't like.

This is starting me down the path to socially responsible investing funds, but I'm new to this and would appreciate any advice or fund recommendations.

Socially responsible investing has come a long way in the last decade. There are more options to choose from now and the performance has improved as more companies are changing their practices to be included in the socially responsible funds.

Many of the socially responsible funds have performed as well as other non SRI funds. Investing is an up and down game, but you don't have to sacrifice performance while trying to be socially responsible. Sure, you might miss out on some huge gains put forth by oil and tobacco companies, but you might reap the benefits of rapid growth in the sustainable energy sectors.
I would bet that 80% of people with mutal funds and 401K's have no idea what they are investing in.
I always tell myself I need to do this research and start investing in a SRI Fund.

I always put it off and continue investing every month into the funds my financial advisor recommends.
I still haven't made any progress on this issue. Something I still want to do.
