Sad that some Republicans are basically hoping for a double dip recession while trying to sow doubt and fear throughout the land. It is their best hope for an election victory next November.
I don't think we will have a double dip recession. There are still some serious issues that need to be resolved (especially in housing and commercial real estate), but overall, I think the economy will continue to get better. At least until it gets too hot a decade from now and we see another bubble burst and the cycle starts all over again. Hopefully, some commen sense safeguards and regulations will be put in place to lessen the risks being taken by some of the big financial institutions. Also, some regulation of the Fed to make it so the easy money stops flowing would be nice.
There was a lot of economic hearings on Capital Hill this past week. A few different people made statements to the point that there will not be a double dip recession. Greenspan was one witness who said there was significant momentum in the economy that woul dlead him to believe there will be no double dip recession. Then again, he has been majorly wrong before.
