Emergency Savings Fund

Build an emergency savings fund with at least three to six months worth of expenses.

The primary reason for doing this is so you will have money available in case you get injured or lose your job.

Many people open a separate savings account for their emergency savings fund.  Otherwise, you might find yourself spending the money.  Don't put your emergency savings fund into a CD or other type of investment that won't be available when you need it.
